My Thanksgiving Agenda

My cousin over at My Favorite Dinner Recipes, my aunt (her mom), and my cousin (her big brother) are cooking up a store for dinner, so I've got the desserts.  She's been through much and her struggle has been a tremendous inspiration to me.  If you ask her, she'll tell you that she doesn't know what the fuss is...but I know what the fuss is, and I'm so proud of you Jay!

Innywho, she encouraged me to start this blog, to start my FB page, to take pics of my goodies, and share and exchange ideas with other folks who are as crazy about food as I am.   She's also the inspiration for me reducing my work load slowly but surely so we can together pursue our passion of cooking and writing! I'm looking forward to the new year and sharing so much more with you! :-)

So Thanksgiving Dinner: As noted above the main cookers in my family each have a cooking role for holiday dinners throughout the year.  My role for every dinner (happily so) is dessert!  (Apparently, someone forgot that  *eh hem*) I'm so excited! So here's what I'm bringing and why!

1.  Amaretto Pumpkin Bread Pudding - My recipe is one I adapted from The Sumptuous Spoonful.  They have an awesome Fan Page on Facebook, and I came across their recipe there.

2.  Pineapple Upside-Down Cake - My uncle has been requesting this since the last one I made for him for his birthday in July, so he's going to get his wish (I think)!  I had a disaster with my bread flour (I clumsily dropped the entire bag on the floor). So I used up the flour I had on the yeast rolls and Chunky Applesauce Cake. Sadly, the plans for this cake went out the window, since I found this out on Thanksgiving Day. How in the world did I not buy an extra bag of AP flour????? Clearly, my procrastination did not serve me well this year. :-(

 3. Chunky Applesauce Cake - My uncle loves this cake, too...this may turn into muffins., with a crumb streusel topping. We'll see how I feel on game day! This maybe a tasty token that I let everyone leave with and allows me to test a new recipe.

4.  Yeast Rolls - I've never made these before, but my cousin's wish is my command...this year anyway.  We found this recipe on DivasCanCook.com.  I'm so hoping I do these justice!

4.  Jello Salad - this is a combination of fruit cocktail, jello, carnation milk, and a shot of Haitian rum. Christmas treat for sure!

5.  Kremas - a creamy alcoholic punch that we Haitians love to serve at family gatherings and parties. I don't want to tempt anyone...so this is coming off the menu! I waited too long to find bottles to give this away in. Since this will be for Christmas I have 4 weeks to make this happen properly!

I'm going to posts these recipes very soon...stay tuned! :-)

I may give away muffins for folks to taste test for me.  We'll see where my heart is the week of Thanksgiving preparations.  While I'm not making any sides or entrees my Cornbread Muffin recipe will be used for the stuffing, and I'll be making the yeast rolls.  Those will be my contributions to the main course...I'm cool with that!

I'm so excited YAY! Can I start baking today???  :-)

  1. Ooh I can't wait to see your version of the Amaretto Pumpkin Bread Pudding! All of your projects sound delicious and very fun. I know what you mean ... I want to just start cooking now and keep cooking nonstop until Thursday, but I have to work ... sigh.
